Ishk Dum Aur Idli Rasam: Shiny Doshi Breaks Silence On Her Big Comeback, Intense Chemistry With Abhishek Kumar
Shiny Doshi says her new show Ishk Dum Aur Idli Rasam feels like the comeback she had been waiting for, especially after consciously stepping away from familiar television spaces. The actor, who became a household name with shows such as Pandya Store, is now leading Balaji Studios’ YouTube Original opposite Abhishek.

The show has drawn attention for its light digital format and the pairing of Shiny and Abhishek. Speaking about the response, Shiny said audiences have been warm to their characters, Arjun and Meera, and that the team has been closely watching viewer reactions online.
Shiny Doshi on her chemistry with Abhishek
Shiny revealed that her pairing with Abhishek came together almost at the last minute. Her readings and look tests were initially done with Shoaib, before Abhishek joined the project shortly before filming began.
“My readings and look tests for the show were done with Shoaib. He's a fabulous and very nice guy. I think replacing Shoaib was a mutual decision between him and the producers. As for Abhishek, I found out only a few days before shooting that he was coming on board. We met briefly for about 15 minutes in the office, and the very next day shooting started,” she said.
Despite the limited preparation time together, Shiny said the comfort arrived quickly on set. She admitted that the first few days of any project can be nerve-wracking, even for experienced actors, because they are still discovering the character.
“But Abhishek, he was so effortless. I never felt like I was working with him for the first time. In fact, after our first scene, our director came up to us clapping and said, 'I could see the chemistry.’ As Abhishek says, some things are destined for the person who is meant to receive them. I think this role was written in his destiny,” Shiny added.
Why Ishk Dum Aur Idli Rasam felt different
Shiny also spoke about wanting to move beyond the typical “bahu” image associated with many of her television roles. She said she remains grateful for those parts, but wanted her next project to offer a new space and a fresh challenge.
“After Pandya, I consciously took a break. I wanted to return only with a character or a show that felt genuinely new and different for me. It's not that I wasn't offered shows, but nothing substantial came my way,” she said.
Calling the Balaji Telefilms project a significant return, Shiny said, “This show with Balaji Telefilms, it felt like a comeback for me and the kind of comeback I had been waiting for.”
New episodes of Ishk Dum Aur Idli Rasam release every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6 pm on the Balaji Telefilms YouTube channel. With viewers responding strongly to the lead pair, the show is finding its place among recent digital fiction releases aimed at younger streaming audiences.
