“There Was A Phase When I Was...”: Kanwalpreet Singh On The Emotional Track In Ghum Hui Yaadein
Actor Kanwalpreet Singh is receiving appreciation for his emotional performance in Ghum Hui Yaadein, where he plays Amarjeet Singh - a passionate singer whose dreams create a painful distance between him and his family. Interestingly, the actor admits that parts of the storyline feel deeply personal and remind him of his own struggles when he first moved to Mumbai.

Talking about the current plot, Kanwalpreet shared that Amarjeet Singh always wanted to become a singer and musician, but his parents strongly opposed the idea.
"Amarjeet Singh is a singer and musician. Since childhood, he wanted to pursue singing, but his parents were against it. They believed that if he chose music, he would have to leave the house," he shared.
The storyline takes an emotional turn years later when Amarjeet's father falls critically ill. Despite years of silence and emotional distance between them, the father's last wish is simply to meet his son once before dying.
Kanwalpreet revealed that the family, alongside actor Iqbal Khan, tries to reconnect with Amarjeet through the internet and social media because the father and son are no longer in touch.
"Neither did I call him, nor did he call me. We were completely disconnected. Somehow, through social media and the internet, they try to reach Amarjeet. A video reaches me and wherever I am, I immediately rush to meet him," he explained.
The emotional hospital reunion between the father and son becomes one of the most touching moments in the show.
"When we finally reach the hospital, there's a very emotional moment. He feels that his last wish has finally been fulfilled. He says that now that he has met his son, he can die peacefully," the actor shared.
Kanwalpreet also admitted that the emotional conflict shown in the series resonated with his own journey when he came to Mumbai to pursue acting. He shared that there was a phase in his life when things were not working out professionally, and that struggle unintentionally created emotional distance between him and his father as well.
"There was a time when I had come to Mumbai with dreams, but things were not working out the way I had imagined. During that phase, there was emotional distance between me and my father too. So somewhere, I could relate to Amarjeet's emotions and that longing for connection," he shared.
The actor further hinted that the makers are considering extending the storyline in future episodes.
"This is the track as of now. Right now, they are saying they may stretch it further and explore it more when the time is right," he added.
With its emotionally layered storytelling around broken relationships, unfulfilled dreams and reconciliation, Ghum Hui Yaadein continues to connect strongly with audiences.
