Vashikaranam: How often do you get starstruck after watching someone act on a TV show? Rare, right? You might be living under a rock if you haven't seen Snehlata Vasaikar showcase her magic as Suman in Sony TV's newly launched show. The family drama thriller titled Vashikaranam has built a loyal audience, courtesy of the impeccable performance and intriguing storyline.

Snehlata Vasaikar, who gained fame for playing Soyarabai in the Marathi series Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji, is back on the small screen with a banger of a project. While Snehlata Vasaikar's work across Marathi television, films and theatre has been nothing short of impressive, it is her power-packed performance in Vashikaranam that has become the talk of the town.

In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat Chief Copy Editor Abhishek Ranjit, Snehlata got candid about her role, revealing why she immediately accepted the offer. Guess what? The Bajirao Mastani actress revealed that she manifested for a show like Vashikaranam, and is glad she bagged the lead role on national television.

Here are excerpts from the interview-

Q- Sony is known for bringing shows that are classy and appeal to a niche audience. And you are taking the audience on a rollercoaster ride, which is filled with thrill, suspense, excitement, and drama. What attracted you to the show? Did you take your own sweet time or immediately accept the offer?

Yeah. Well, of course, this character is really a rollercoaster ride for me. And this was the reason why I chose this character, because it has a lot of shades. Like, in a minute, if I'm good, in a minute I become a bad person. However, Suman is a very strong-headed woman. So she knows very well what she suffered in the past and what she is going to do for her future and her family. She is protecting her family.

So while protecting her family, she is, you know, she is taking support of some difficult or new things. She is strong yet emotional. She knows what she went through in her past. This character has many shades, and I was keen to take on such a role. This was the reason I accepted the offer. Nobody gets one character with a lot of shades.

Q- What has been your takeaway as an artist from the show?

As an artist, I take everything as it comes. So, if any difficulty comes in front of me, I don't look at it as a difficulty, I look at it as an opportunity. So, I think my makers knew this very well, that this is an artist, who will take difficult things as an opportunity, and will advance it further in the performance.

So, if I have to hold something burning in my hand, I have to go through such difficult scenarios, where I might have a problem while shooting. So, there, they are a little worried about me. They have a lot of confidence in me, that if it is so difficult, then Snehalata will definitely do it.

I have to tell you that I manifested for a role like Suman. It's like a dream come true to play a character with multiple shades.
