Vasudha Fame Parichay Sharma Talks About Typecasting: Your Success Often Becomes Your Biggest Typecast

While many actors struggle to break free from the image of a successful role, Vasudha actor Parichay Sharma considers himself fortunate to have explored diverse characters across television, films and OTT. The actor believes that although typecasting is common in the entertainment industry, an actor's growth depends on constantly challenging themselves with different roles.

Reflecting on the idea of being typecast, Parichay says he has been lucky enough to portray a wide range of characters throughout his career. "I've played everything from a gay character in a film to a mentally disturbed man-child in Balika Vadhu, a caring brother in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, a bratty lead in Begusarai, and now a rich, grey-shaded character in Vasudha. Thankfully, I haven't been typecast," he says.

However, he admits that the industry often prefers to play safe. "When one role becomes popular, producers and casting directors start offering similar characters because they don't want to experiment. It's similar to how one successful film creates a trend and suddenly everyone wants to make the same kind of film," he adds.

Speaking about the challenges of choosing projects, Parichay says the freedom to be selective comes only after an actor has established themselves. "When a big production house approaches you, you naturally want to work with them because you believe one opportunity can open many more doors. Until you've built your name, saying no is a luxury," he says.

The actor also reveals that despite the uncertainty, he has turned down projects that didn't align with his values. "I've rejected roles that required excessive intimate scenes and even some projects where the budget wasn't right. Sometimes those decisions have backfired because people don't always take rejection positively, but I have certain boundaries that I don't want to cross," he shares.

For Parichay, meaningful storytelling remains one of the biggest rewards of being an actor. He says being part of projects that inspire positive change brings immense satisfaction beyond professional success. "Whenever your work helps society or changes someone's perspective, it gives you a different kind of peace. It's like the best of both worlds-you get to do what you love while contributing something meaningful to people through your craft," he adds.
