The Baisakhi Special set of Wheel of Fortune had a festive look, with Akshay Kumar wearing a bright turban and greeting contestants Sadeev Singh, Gurpreet Singh Tikku and Karandeep Singh, who all joined in the celebrations, creating an atmosphere that mixed games, festival energy and emotional moments that stood out beyond the usual quiz format.

During their chat, Gurpreet explained that part of any money earned goes towards helping others and recalled visiting a Gurudwara since childhood to give atta, namak, dal and other household staples, a habit Gurpreet has maintained for more than 25 years, when Akshay Kumar gently asked, “Do you give donations or perform seva?”

Answering Akshay Kumar, Gurpreet said that both donation and seva are important, which led Akshay Kumar to respond with a strong personal view, saying, “I am not really someone who should correct you, but I feel the word 'donation’ is a dirty word,” and then stressing that the term itself should be avoided.

Akshay Kumar continued that thought, adding, “In my view, no one should use the word 'donation’; God makes us capable so that we can give something, but whatever is given is actually given by God,” underlining that people are only channels through which help reaches someone in need.

Sharing more from personal experience, Akshay Kumar said, “I always speak with very influential people, and when they talk about donation, somehow I start saying that you are not donating, God has given you this chance to do seva. We are not in a position to give anyone anything; our position is that when we receive something, we pass it on,” and Gurpreet agreed with that idea.

Akshay Kumar also stressed that speaking openly about seva is useful, saying, “You perform seva and it is a very good thing to talk about seva. The more seva you do, the more you keep doing seva, the more you speak about seva so that people also understand that they should do seva. Seva is a very big thing,” linking personal acts to wider inspiration.

The conversation then widened to global events, as Akshay Kumar reflected, “Especially in today’s times when, as you all know, so many wars are going on in the world. Someone is launching missiles at someone, someone is doing something, someone is fighting, so many children have been killed, so many elderly people have been killed, so many young people… so many parents have lost their children. Unfortunately, the society we live in is a war-driven society. I feel very disturbed,” showing clear discomfort with constant conflict.

Akshay Kumar further questioned why nations and groups keep fighting and what they hope to gain, pointing out the irony of battles over resources like oil and saying that such reasons surprise and trouble Akshay Kumar, while the Wheel of Fortune Baisakhi Special episode ultimately balanced festive joy, personal stories of Gurudwara seva and a firm message about humanity, language and peace.
