Thane Police detained Jay following complaints linked to a disputed commercial property deal. Officers said several customers suffered heavy financial losses after investing in the same property. The matter involves agreements made over recent months in Maharashtra. Police added that the case centres on documents that may have been wrongly represented during multiple sales.

According to officials, the case started with a complaint by a retired engineer, who approached police after a property deal allegedly went wrong. The complainant accused Jay Dudhane and four members of the family of misleading the complainant into investing crores of rupees in commercial units that were already under a bank mortgage. The complainant claimed Jay Dudhane persuaded an investment in these units while hiding the mortgage status. The alleged fraud surfaced when the bank issued a notice to seize the mortgaged properties, the complainant told police.
