Junooniyatt 2 update: When Colors channel launched the show in February 2023, industry experts expected it to pick up pace within a few weeks and dethrone Imlie from the slot leadership. Junooniyat featured Ankit Gupta, who made waves during his stint in Bigg Boss 16. Considering his popularity, the industry folks believed that the show might do wonders. However, the constant plot change and competition from IPL 2023 affected the life of the show.

Within nine months, Junooniyatt went off air on Colors TV. Doree starring Amar Uphadhyay and Sudha Chandran replaced the show at 9pm from November 6, 2023. Once again the romantic drama co-starring Neha Rana and Gautam Vig has been grabbing eyeballs. Wondering what happened?

A report in India Forums sparked rumours about the second season of Junooniyatt. It claimed that plans are underway for the fresh season on Colors channel. While the report didn't give any timeline for the launch date or time slot, it made the fans wonder if Ankit will play the lead in the show.

WILL ANKIT GUPTA PLAY LEAD IN JUNOONIYATT 2?

An industry source told Filmibeat, "There's no truth to the rumours about Ankit Gupta playing the lead role in Junooniyatt 2. He is back in Mumbai. Ankit is in talks with different production houses for their upcoming projects. After Bigg Boss 16, he didn't get a break and directly started shooting for the show in Chandigarh. He is enjoying the much-needed break and also talking with a few producers for projects. When the channel has not confirmed the rumours, how can we believe it?"

Earlier, Ankit denied the buzz of Junooniyatt 2. He said that he had no idea about the new season, stating that Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta have not notified him about the same.

"Sabse pehle mujhe ye batao ki aap logon ko ye information mil kaha se rahi hai? Mere paas Junooniyatt 2 ki koi information nahi hai, Ravi-Sargun ke paas bhi nahi hogi, agar hoti toh mujhe batate. But, I've no information about it. Kuch aisa hoga toh we'll sit and discuss and then we'll see what needs to be done," the Balika Vadhu actor told ETimes.

Ankit shot to fame after playing the role of Fateh opposite Priyanka Chahar Choudhary in Udaariyaan. PriyAnkit participated together in Bigg Boss 16.
