EXCLUSIVE! Kunal Jaisingh-Adrija Roy's Durga Aur Charu Under Scanner, To Go Off Air After IPL 2023

durga aur charu off air

Filmibeat has learned about an exclusive update from the world of Indian television. Shows going off air within a few months of launch is not a new phenomenon. Leading GECs often axe non-performing shows to make way for newer ones to rejig their weekday programming. If the recent buzz in the industry is to be believed, a newly launched show is under scanner and will go off air after the culmination of Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2023. We are talking about Durga Aur Charu.

Durga Aur Charu, which is the sequel of Barrister Babu, was launched with several expectations in December 2022. The show picked up pace in the initial episodes but soon the buzz died and the makers introduced a leap to spice up things. Kunal Jaisingh, Adrija Roy and Rachi Sharma entered the show as the new leads. While the artists are working round the clock to deliver power-packed performances and quality episodes, the ratings have witnessed a drop in recent weeks.

And now, we are hearing the dreadful word in the industry- 'Will go off air.' Yes, you read that right! Filmibeat has exclusively received a piece of information that might make the fans of the show sad. Durga Aur Charu is under scanner and is expected to face the axe after IPL 2023 ends.

"Durga Aur Charu has failed to perform well in terms of charts. Despite a promising storyline and impressive star cast, the show has not been able to strike a chord with the audience. The channel is contemplating on pulling the plug on the social drama. An official decision is yet to be taken but most probably, the show won't be on air for a long time. It is likely to air its last episode after IPL 2023," a source told Filmibeat.

"Vivian Dsena's upcoming show, which is said to be based on a social issue, is expected to replace Durga Aur Charu. While Karan Kundrra-Gashmeer Mahajani's Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal will go off air after completing its run in May, Agnisakshi is expected to stay on air. The channel is hopeful that Aashay Mishra and Shivika Pathak's show has required steam to run through. Most of the shows from 8-10:30pm on Colors channel are struggling to get TRPs. Expect an overall revamp after IPL 2023," the source added.

"Shivoham, which is the next big-ticket launch on Colors, will take the prime time slot of 9pm. After Chakravartin Ashoka, Shanidev, channel is placing its bet on another big property. The last few launches at 9pm have not been as successful as previous shows and hence, Colors and Swastik Productions are hopeful that their association will work well," the source told us.
