EXCLUSIVE! Donal Bisht On Facing Challenges While Working On Tu Zakhm Hai: My Character Kavya Is...

Donal Bisht has been basking in the success of Tu Zakhm Hai 2, which premiered on March 23 on MX Player. The romantic thriller co-starring Gashmeer Mahajani has received a good response from the audience upon its release on the leading OTT platform.

Filmibeat caught up with Donal over a cup of coffee, discussing several things related to the show and her personal life. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Q- From a star journalist to ruling the world of television, OTT, films and music video, Donal, your journey has been nothing but impressive. What you have to say about your journey?

It's wonderful that you addressed me in such a manner, and it feels great to accomplish various things during different phases of life while working hard towards achieving your ultimate goal. Personally, I have always approached life with a step-by-step ladder plan, which is helping me progress towards my aspirations. Looking forward to the journey ahead!

How do you reflect on your career now?

As I mentioned earlier, I find immense satisfaction in taking life step by step. One cannot reach the final goal without traversing all the other stages in between. I have planned my life in this manner, and I am able to pursue it with complete passion and dedication, which brings me great joy. However, I am driven to do better every day, and this constant motivation propels me towards greater achievements in life. I hope to achieve all the goals that I have set for my future.

I started my career as a journalist, which was my personal aspiration, as well as my parents' wish. I dedicate this accomplishment to them. After that, I wanted to become an anchor, and I succeeded in that too. My next goal was to host big shows on TV, and I accomplished that as well. I worked with well-known production houses, channels, and on popular shows that received much love from the audience. Currently, with Tu Zakhm Hai on OTT, I am living every actor's dream of creating a product that is appreciated by everyone. It feels great to have the show approved for a second season.

I am content with the hard work that I have put in so far, but I firmly believe that this is just the beginning of what I aspire to achieve in my life. I am eagerly looking forward to the journey ahead, and I am filled with gratitude for everything I have accomplished.

Q- Kavya Garewal is not your typical character that you see on TV or OTT. Did you face any challenges while working on the series? How did you prepare for the role?

She's not an ordinary girl. Kavya, the character I play, has various layers that are strongly connected to the audience and to today's generation. She's a simple girl that people can easily relate to, but she's also incredibly strong from within, like a coconut with a soft exterior and a tough interior. This is how her character evolves in the story, and I believe that it can inspire many girls and people who are watching it. That's why I think the audience loves Kavya's character. She shows us that we can also be strong from within. As for preparing for the role, Kavya is a clinical psychologist, so I studied psychology in my 11th and 12th standard, which helped me understand the character better. The makers saw my journey and offered me the role, and I think my background in psychology played a part in that decision. I did a lot of research on Stockholm Syndrome, which is a major theme in the show, by watching films and web shows and reading about it on the internet. It was a great experience to play a character with so many emotions and ups and downs. Kavya's journey shows a range of emotions that people can relate to, as nothing is black or white in real life or on the web.
