Devara Early Review: "Devara: Part 1," the much-anticipated Telugu action drama directed by Koratala Siva, has officially premiered worldwide on September 27, 2024. Produced collaboratively by Yuvasudha Arts and N. T. R. Arts, the film stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr. in dual roles, along with Bollywood icons Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, who are making their Telugu cinema debuts. The supporting cast features prominent actors such as Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, Kalaiyarasan, and Murali Sharma.
Initially announced in April 2021 with the working title NTR30 to commemorate Jr. NTR's 30th lead role, the film received its official title in May 2023. Principal photography started in April 2023 and wrapped up in August 2024, with shooting locations including Hyderabad, Shamshabad, Visakhapatnam, Goa, and Thailand. Originally set for release on April 5, 2024, the premiere was delayed to allow for extensive post-production and VFX work.
Positive reviews for the film began rolling in even from the previews before its worldwide release. Umair Sandhu, who claims to be a member of the Overseas Censor Board as well as a journalist and film critic, posted his "First Review" of "Devara" on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Umair Sandhu's post, Jr. NTR delivers an exceptional performance, showcasing a sterling act that captivates throughout and provides the film with the much-needed power. Saif Ali Khan also shines in his role. Umair Sandhu describes 'Devara' as a "Paisa Vasool" entertainer, emphasizing its suitability for the big screen. He rates the film 3.5 out of 5, highlighting its entertaining qualities and strong performances as key draws for audiences.
Devara Premise
Set in the 1980s and 1990s, "Devara: Part 1" unfolds the gripping tale of Devara, a fearless individual hailing from a coastal region. As he bravely confronts the dangers of the sea to safeguard his community, he must also contend with betrayal from his brother, Bhaira. The story deepens as Devara prepares to pass on his legacy to his timid son, Varada, setting the stage for an intense saga of family and bravery.

The music rollout began with the first single, "Fear Song," released on May 19, 2024, followed by "Chuttamalle" on August 5, "Daavudi" on September 4, and "Red Sea," which was featured in the theatrical trailer, on September 12. The fifth single, "Ayudha Pooja," was launched on September 26.
With ambitious production values and a captivating storyline, "Devara" aims to provide a visually stunning cinematic experience. Reports indicate that Netflix has secured the digital distribution rights for the film for ₹155 crore (US$19 million), significantly enhancing its reach and potential impact.
