In the year 2898 AD, Kasi, now a desertified city, stands alone as the last known city, governed by a totalitarian ruling class led by the god-king Supreme Yaskin. Their seat of power is a hovering inverted-pyramidal megastructure called the "Complex." Set against the backdrop of ancient Indian Hindu mythology and a dystopian society, the story spans millennia, from the events of the Mahabharata in 3102 BC, marking the beginning of Kali Yuga, to 2898 AD. At its core is the arrival of Kalki, an enigmatic figure and the tenth and final avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu.
