According to box office tracker Box Office Tamil, Dhanush's "Raayan" has achieved impressive box office success in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Over the first six days of its release, the film has grossed ₹9.5 crores in these regions. This strong performance highlights the film's widespread appeal and growing popularity, contributing significantly to its overall box office collection.

Raayan Synopsis

In the 1990s, Kathavaraayan "Raayan" assumes the responsibility of raising his younger siblings after their parents disappear and relocates them to North Chennai. Over the years, Raayan runs a fast-food hotel while his siblings confront their own struggles. A bar altercation involving his brother Muthu results in the death of a gangster's son, trapping Raayan and his family in an intricate web of deception, betrayal, and revenge orchestrated by a new police commissioner. They must navigate this perilous situation to secure their survival.

Raayan Cast and Crew

The film boasts a varied cast, with Dhanush in the lead role as Kathavaraayan "Raayan" and Rakul portraying young Raayan. Prakash Raj stars as Commissioner Sargunam, while S. J. Suryah plays Sethuraman "Sethu." Selvaraghavan appears as Sekhar, Raayan's father figure, and Sundeep Kishan portrays Muthuvelraayan "Muthu," Raayan's younger brother, with Avanish as younger Muthu. Dushara Vijayan is cast as Durga, Raayan's younger sister, with Dharsikha playing young Durga. Kalidas Jayaram takes on the role of Manickavelraayan "Manickam," another of Raayan's younger brothers, with Dhanush Karthik as young Manickam. Aparna Balamurali features as Megala, Muthu's wife, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar makes a cameo as Sethu's first wife. The ensemble also includes Saravanan as Durai, Dileepan as Sethu's henchman, Ilavarasu as Megala's father, Divya Pillai as Annam Sethuraman, Dr. Karthik Anjaneyan, Devadarshini as a nurse, Namo Narayanan as a land shark, Cell Murugan as a restaurant worker, and several others in supporting roles, including Aranthangi Nisha as a police officer and Kiccha Ravi as Kathavaraayan's father.

The soundtrack, composed by A. R. Rahman, includes singles such as "Adangaatha Asuran" (released on May 9, 2024), "Water Packet" (May 24), and "Raayan Rumble" (July 5). The complete album was launched on July 6, 2024, at Sriram Engineering College in Chennai. Directed and written by Dhanush and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film features cinematography by Om Prakash and editing by Prasanna GK.
