Lakshmi Manchu's latest production Gundello Godari is one of highly-talked about and most-awaited Telugu movies. It was to release in November 2013, but due to unavailability of enough number of theatres, the movie had to be delayed. Its promos have soared up the viewers' curiosity to sky high. The long wait is worth it. The film will surely rock you.

Gundello Godari is a romance drama and lead actors' performances are the main highlight of the movie. Ilayaraja's melodious music and background score, MR Palanikumaar's cinematography, amazing CGI and art work, Kumar Nagendra's interesting screenplay, beautiful locations and costumes are its other attractions. The movie has its own share of drawbacks, which are ignored while you are glued to the screens.

The film is set against the backdrop of 1986 Godavari floods. Many had lost their homes and livelihoods in that awful incident and the movie depicts destruction and pain caused by this natural disaster. It revolves around two love stories, which show how the lives of four people had changed with the tragedy.

Gundello Godari opens with the scenes of heavy rainfall and the film soon goes into flashback mode, which reveals the love story between Aadi and Tapsee. But the first half gives little hint about the natural calamity and it throws more focus on the love story between two lead pairs. The first hour has three beautiful songs including one item number and a fight sequence. Despite not having comedy, it is quite interesting.

The second half heads to reveal the romance between Sundeep and Lakshmi in the first 30 minutes, which seems to be slow and dragging at times. Then the film shifts back to flooding scene. The climax is amazing and the camera and CGI works and background score in it are superb and it is a visual treat.

Fisherman Malli (Aadi) and Chitra (Lakshmi Manchu) are a newly wed couple. They decide to narrate the past life, when they lose hope of survival due to devastating flood. Malli reveals his ambition to buy a fishing boat and his romance with a fishing merchant's daughter Sarala (Tapsee). Meanwhile, Chitra also reveals her love story with Suri (Sundeep Kishan). What made them break up with their loved ones? Will their confessions affect their relationship? Will they survive the flood? The answers to these questions should be seen on screen.

Kumar Nagendra has chosen and wonderful story and he has got good grip on the tempo. The director manages to run the show without boring you. As a fisherman, Aadi has delivered a superb performance, and his makeup and costumes are also wonderful. He emotes well in sentimental and action sequences.

Sundeep Kishan has almost equal scope for his role in Gundello Godari and he appears in the second half. He has done a wonderful acting. He impresses you in romantic sequences. Lakshmi Manchu, who is the producer of Gundello Godari, has got good scope in the film and she has given a fitting performance to her role - village belle. Her chemistry with Sundeep is a treat to watch on screen.

Tapsee Pannu has also played a village belle in Gundello Godari. She has more scope in the first half and she looks good in lehanga choli. He chemistry with Aadi is also good. Others like Murali Mohan, Annapurna, Jeeva, Ravi Babu, Praveen and Dhan Raj have done justice to their respective roles. Mumaith Khan is sure to rock you with her item dance.

Ilayaraja's music is the main highlight in the technical front. All his compositions are soothing and melodious and surely add to the narration of the story. His background helps the director to elevate the intensity and emotional sequences. MR Palanikumaar's picturisation is another attraction in the movie. Especially, he has done brilliant work in flood and romantic scenes.

Gundello Godari has huge amount CGI work, which is also a highlight. Especially, the visual in the climax sequences will surely leave you spell bound. Another aspect to be commended is its art direction.

Overall, Gundello Godari is a wonderful attempt by Kumar Nagendra. It has superb performances by lead actors and excellent production values. This romantic entertainer will certainly live up to the expectations that it had created prior its release.
