Telugu Cinema's Diamond jubilee celebrations in January

KS Rama Rao says, The Telugu cinema had completed 75 years this year and to commemorate the occasion, the Telugu film industry is planning to hold the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations for three days from January 26 on a grand scale.' A festival committee was formed to monitor the arrangements under the chairmanship of Dr D Ramanaidu. A meeting was held at Film Chamber on November 18. Speaking on the occasion, Dr D Ramanaidu says, 'Several stalwarts had contributed to bring the Telugu film industry to this level during the past 75 years. During these 75 year, the Telugu film industry took good shape by undergoing several changes. We want to hold the celebrations to recollect the sweet memories left behind by our past generation. All the departments of the Telugu film industry would take part in these celebrations. We will hold them in a never before manner. We declare these three days as holidays to the film industry and there won't be any shootings during those three days. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, besides its former chief minister J Jayalalithaa ,who was also a film heroine during those days would be invited to participate in this film festival.

KS Rama Rao further said, 'We have decided to organize the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at International Convention Centre in Madhapur. We are going to screen the life histories of 54 top film personalities on the occasion. We are also planning to felicitate 75 senior technicians and artistes who served the Telugu film industry.' MAA president K Nagababu says, 'It is our duty to enlighten the people of this generation about the past generation, who moulded the Telugu Cinema and the film industry and gave it a shape. I request everyone to come forward and help to make the programme a success.' KC Sekhar Babu says, 'Several artistes and technicians worked hard to give a facelift to the Telugu film industry. Though some of them were not alive now, we will felicitate their kin by inviting them to this function.'

MAA secretary Mallikarjuna Rao opined that it is a good tradition. While Ramanaidu is the chairman to the festival committee, Dr Dasari Narayana Rao was named chief advisor, Dr DVS Raju as chief coordinator, KS Rama Rao, KC Sekhar Babu, C Kalyan, would be the convenors, Dr KL Narayana would be the treasurer, K Raghavendra Rao as cultural committee chairman, Allu Aravind as finance committee chairman, while concept and research development chairman would be D Sureshbabu.
