Mallepoovu is dedicated to Shoban Babu

Movie Mallepoovu, directed by V. Samudra and produced by Mohan Vadlapatla under Sri Samudra Silver Screens banner starring Bhoomika and Murali Krishna, is almost wrapped up except for one song. Incidentally, Mallepoovu is also the title of a Shoban Babu starrer; the story is different for the Bhoomika starrer.

Recently at a press meet, director Samudra stated, "Mallepoovu was the title of one of the late Shoban Babu's blockbusters. Shoban Babu called me up once after the title was announced and complimented me for choosing it. Though he was invited for the muhurat, he was unable to come. But he did say he would come for the audio launch. Unfortunately he is no more. So we have decided to dedicate our film to the great thespian. We are inviting everyone who starred in the earlier Mallepoovu as special guests for the audio launch which is planned for July end.

"Illayaraja has composed seven songs and also sung a song in the film. The film's story was penned by Ramesh Varma, director of Oka Voorilo; he gave it to me as I liked it a lot. Illayaraja has asked for Tamil rights and Bhoomika has asked for the Hindi remake rights. The release is planned in the auspicious Sravana Maasam."

The movie is presented by P. Prasad Raju, Anil Bhandari is the photographer and Veturi is the lyricist. Screenplay and direction are by V. Samudra.
