Meena's star rises after Kathanayakudu

Meena was enjoying her retirement until Kuselan aka Kathanayakudu came along; then all of a sudden, she was back in the news. The media rediscovered her and she even signed a couple of new movies.

But going back a bit, last year Meena had committed to do a movie starring comedian Senthil. Titled Kaattuvasiyum Kaipaesiyum, Senthil was acting as an illiterate tribal, with Meena in the lead. When she was ridiculed for acting in a movie starring Senthil, she quashed the nasty comments, saying that she was acting parallel to Senthil and was not his heroine.

When the Kuselan offer came her way, Meena was on cloud nine. Kuselan is being simultaneously being made as Kathanayakudu in Telugu, with Meena playing the role of the Superstar's friend's wife in both languages. Though she wasn't acting opposite Rajini, her star value got a boost and rose several notches. She started getting film offers in Malayalam and Telugu.

According to reports, this promoted Meena to inform the producers of Kaattuvasiyum... that since her 'market' rate had gone up several notches, they should revise her fee. Meena is said to have quoted a whopping sum that the producers could not afford.

Meena has now withdrawn from the project stating the inability of the producers to meet her revised fee as the reason.
