Sneha, the new cop in town

Sneha is all set to play the lead role in a movie inspired by the Vijayashanthi starrer, Karthavyam from the 1980s. It will be produced simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil.

Karthavyam, is about an honest police officer, who fights against the corruption endemic in modern Indian society. Vijayashanthi received a National Award for Best Actress for her outstanding performance, which she based on the woman police officer famous Kiran Bedi.

Arthi Kumar will be directing Sneha as the upright police woman in this latest remake of an old classic. Arthi Kumar has directed films like Sound Party featuring Sathyaraj before.

Sneha is known for her unusual selection of roles, many will remember that she performed brilliantly as a battered inmate of a brothel who becomes a young local thug's mistress in the Tamil movie Pudhupettai. It was quite unique and a bold move for a leading heroine as she has a reputation for doing 'homely' roles.
