The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) on Saturday banned television reality show Aata-5 stating that it had violated child rights. The commission has banned the show with immediate effect, after few organizations lodged a complaint with APSHRC saying that the show portrays children in vulgar and objectionable manner.

APSHRC Chairman Justice B Subhashan Reddy has directed Commissioner of Police A K Khan to prohibit similar shows under Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995. The commission also observed that the advertisements and programmes with indecent representation of woman should also be banned under the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

APSHRC chairman said that he has seen few episodes of the show and feels that such shows will harm the mental and physical growth of the child.
