Ram Gopal Varma-Nagarjuna together for modern Ramayana

By Ramchander

Bitten by Sri Rama Rajyam bug, maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now decided to make a film on the epic Ramayana. The director has confirmed the news and has claimed that Nagarjuna will be starring in the role of Raavan Raju – inspired by demon king Raavan – in the proposed project.

Ram Gopal Varma said that the idea of making the film came to his mind after watching Sri Rama Rajyam. The filmmaker says that the movie will be made keeping the new-age sensibilities in mind. The filmmaker further adds that it is not a comedy entertainer rather a serious film like his earlier Bollywood flick Sarkar. However, he assures that the movie would not hurt the sentiments of the Hindus.

Ram Gopal Varma and Nagarjuna have earlier worked in superhit films like Shiva and Antham. However, other cast and crew of the forthcoming Telugu movie, which will also be remade in Bollywood with different cast, are yet to be finalised.

The story of modern Ramayana (A fight between two corporate companies)
Dasharath Rao is the head of Ayodhya Group of Companies. The businessman, who is married to Kaushalya, falls in love with Kaikeyi Agarwal during one of his business trips. However, his second wife forces him to handover the business to her son Bharat Kumar and not his other son Ram Shankar from his first wife. Thus, he sends Ram Shankar along with his brother Lakshman Shankar to head the sick unit, which is located very far from his place. The story gets a new twist when Lanka Group of Companies owned by Raavan Raju along with his brother Bheeshan Raju and sister Shoorapauna, who is a party animal, trouble their family. The rest of the story form the interesting part of the tale.
