Director Gunasekhar is making a historical drama on Rani Rudrama Devi. He has been working on this script since a long time. The latest buzz that is creating waves in the T-Town is about its female lead. If we are to got by the latest reports, actress Anushka Shetty is expected to essay the role of Rani Rudrama Devi.

Rani Rudrama Devi was one of the most prominent rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty on the Deccan Plateau. She was an able fighter and dynamic ruler, who defended the kingdom from the Cholas and Yadavas. Gunasekhar has planned to do a movie based on her life and times of Rudramma. Sources say that he has almost completed the scripting works and is now waiting to take up casting process.

Sources from the Telugu film industry say that Gunasekhar was earlier considering the names of popular South Indian actress like Anushka Shetty and Nayantara for the role of Rani Rudrama Devi. But finally, the director has reportedly zeroed in on the Arundathi actress for this prestigious project.

However, Rani Rudrama Devi is said to be a dream project for Gunasekhar and he has planned to use the prevailing hi-technology to make in a big one. Sources claim that Maestro Illayaraja is expected to compose the music for this bilingual film, which will be simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil, and showcases the efforts and tribulations of Rudrama Devi. Art director Thota Tharani is likely to be roped in for creating lavish sets.
