Dr Rajasekhar and Jeevitha joining BJP today

Telugu actor Dr Rajashekhar and his wife Jeevitha, who were keeping themselves away from politics from past few months, are now joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. The celebrity couple have defended their move by saying that they are joining this party because it is the only party that can work for the welfare of the people of this country.

Dr Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha had first joined Indian National Congress. After quitting this party, they joined YS Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress party in 2010. Later, they quit YSR Congress also, laying the allegations of an insult made by YS Jaganmohan Reddy. They have also worked for TDP and NTR-TDP for a few months in the past. Today, they are entering BJP.

Talking about joining the BJP, Jeevitha Rajashekhar says that they feel that the BJP can work towards people’s mandate. “The party has definite goals and they are working towards reaching them in the coming 2014 general elections,” the TOI quotes Jeevitha as saying.
