Lakshmi Rai's item song inspired by Katrina's Chikni Chameli?

Hyderabad: It has already been reported that actress Lakshmi Rai is performing an item number in Nagarjuna's upcoming movie Damarugam. The latest buzz is that the item song is loosely inspired by Katrina Kaif's chartbuster song 'Chikni Chameli' from the movie Agneepath. But the actress slammed the reports saying that it is a totally different folk number.

In an interview with a leading English day, Lakshmi Rai spoke exclusively about her first item song in Telugu and said that the makers of the movie are in talks with her and she is yet to sign the song. Meanwhile, she denied the rumours that it is a copy of 'Chikni Chameli'. She added that it would be a unique and lavish folk number.

Lakshmi Rai seems to be taking inspiration from top Bollywood actress-cum-item girls Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kareena for her item song. The actress does not like to brand her dance number as item song. Rather she would like to call it a special song and she does not mind doing it.

However, Lakshmi Rai has already listened to the racy song, which has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad and fallen in love with it. Now, she is all excited to perform it for Nag. "It's a pleasure to work with Nagarjuna and matching steps with him will be a new challenge," Deccan Chronicle quotes her as saying.
