Telugu actor Abhishek Kumar arrested over cocaine use

Hyderabad: Telugu actor Abhishek Kumar was arrested on Friday night after he was caught with 10 grams of cocaine. According to the Sanjeevareddy Nagar police, the actor has confirmed that he has been using drugs since 2007 and he had planned for a weekend party along with his friends at an undisclosed place on the day he was caught red-handed.

On Friday night, Abhishek Kumar was travelling with G Srinivasulu in a Skoda, the Sanjeevareddy Nagar police stopped their car for a routine check near DK Road. They found 10 pouches of cocaine with them. They claim that during their interrogation, the actor had confessed that he procured the drug from an unknown dealer in Goa on December 2 and kept it at his residence in Tirumala Apartments in Sanjeevareddy Nagar.

Abhishek Kumar has further confessed that he has been using the drug regularly since 2007 and has consumed drugs along with several of his Tollywood co-actors and friends. He has also confirmed that he has been using cocaine together with Srinivasulu since 2010. The cops have arrested Abhishek and Srinivasulu under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985.

However, in 2003, Abhishek Kumar entered the Telugu film industry with small-budget movie Aithe, which gave him a break. Later, he played some petty roles in films like Danger, Nuvvu Vastanante Nenoddantana, Gamyam, Sashi Rekha Parinayam, Kalidas and Gaganam.
