Telugu film industry has produced more number of hit movies in 2012, when compared to previous. It has also its own share of movies that created huge controversy and faced the anger of different communities. Some films triggered a row for title issues, but major number of them landed in the controversy for abusive, sexual content and they made big news for all wrong reasons for long time.

A few Telugu movies, which landed in the controversy after their release, had some characters, story, scenes or dialogues aimed at a particular person, political party, social community. The Regional Censor Board was blamed for giving certificates for these movies without suggesting any cuts. Especially, a section of people alleged that A Dhanalakshmi had taken money for issuing the certificates.

Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu controversy

After the release of Pawan Kalyan's Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu, the TDP, YSRC and Telangana activists protested and stalled its screening claiming that its story, a few dialogues and characters targeted them. They even destroyed Puri's office. The makers immediately made necessary changes to pacify them. The movie also made a big news for the fight between director Puri Jagannath and producer DVV Danayya over remuneration.

Dhenikaina Ready controversy

After its release Dhenikaina Ready landed in a row, which can be described as the biggest controversial film of the year. A few Brahmin organisations alleged that some scenes in the film made a derogatory representation of the community. They claimed that those scenes have hurt the sentiments of the community. They held protests in front of APFCC, HRC and Mohan Babu's residence.

Damarukam controversy

Akkineni Nagarjuna's Damarukam landed in a title controversy after filmmaker Naveen Kalyan claimed that he had registered the title Damarukam at the APFCC in 2008 and had also done 50% of shooting for the film. But the production house RR Movie Makers has allegedly used the title.

Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum controversy

Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum landed in a controversy for having a mining mafia as its backdrop. The movie showcases the atrocities committed by the Mafia Dons in Bellary. Some people were unhappy as they said that it showed similarities to life of BJP Leader Gali Janardhan Reddy from Karnataka.

Bus Stop controversy

The movie Bus Stop sparked controversy for its double meaning dialogues and a few misleading scenes. Different Students Organizations staged a protest at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad and burnt the flexes of film, demanded the ban of film. They shouted slogans against the censor board for awarding A certificate before deleting the obscene scenes in a film.

Daruvu controversy

Daruvu landed in a title controversy after 'Daruvu' Cultural association President Daruvu Ellanna claimed that the word Daruvu is the name of a cultural association in Telangana striving for the cultural protection in Telangana and it is an insult to Telangana culture to put the name to a vulgar film. They served an ultimatum to change the title of the movie. A few agitators stormed into its audio function at Prasad Labs and raised slogan.

Devaraya controversy

Srikanth's Devaraya landed in a big controversy after an organisation named Kapu Nadu alleged that it showed the much-revered King Sri Krishnadevaraya in a very bad light. President Narayana Swamy Royal claimed that the movie portrayed him as an item dancer. He urged the makers to remove all those sleazy songs and other scenes from the film that make a mockery of the King.

Racha controversy

Racha landed in a controversy before its release for shooting a romantic song in front of an idol of Gautam Buddha. A remix rain song Vaana Vaana Velluvaaye shooting evoked sharp criticism from women organisations.

A Woman in Brahminism controversy

A Woman in Brahminism triggered a row for obscenity. A Brahmin community claimed that a few scenes in film were intended to hurt the sentiments of one particular caste. It urged to stop its public screening or remove the controversial scenes.

Sorry Teacher controversy

Director Sri Satya's Sorry Teacher starring Aryaman and Kavya Singh in leads, sparked a row for its sleazy content. An Andhra Pradesh Teachers' Community filed a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission and the Censor Board requesting to stop the shooting of the film. The community claimed that the movie insulted the teachers community.
