After four years, director Kodi Ramakrishna, who is known for Arundhathi, is all set to make his grand comeback with his next directorial venture, which is multi-lingual movie to be made simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Its Telugu version has been titled Rani Ranamma, which was officially launched in Hyderabad on April 15. The movie features actress Lakshmi Rai and actor Arjun Sarja in the lead roles.
The muhurtham of Rani Ranamma was held at Annapoorna Studios in the city on Monday morning (April 15). Renowned Tollywood filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao sounded the clap board for the opening shot of the movie, which was attended by several dignitaries from the Telugu film industry. Actors Arjun Sarja and Lakshmi Rai, who are playing the leads in the film, posed for the first of the movie.
Rani Ranamma is going to be a decent family entertainer, which is directed by Kodi Ramakrishna and produced by R Ramachandra Raju under the banner of Shylaja Productions. The producers are expected to make an official announcement about other cast and crew soon. The movie will be shot in Hyderabad, Kerala, Rajahmundry and Sri Lanka and will be wrapped up by August. The makers are planning to release the film for Dusshera.

The opening ceremony of Rani Ranamma was a grand event. Dasari Narayana Rao started the shooting by clapping the board at Annapoorna Studios in Hyderabad.
The multi-lingual film Rani Ranamma was to go on floors in 2012, but its filming was delayed due to the ill health of Kodi Ramakrishna, who had to undergo an emergency bypass surgery. The director took four months to recover from his illness.
Rani Ranamma is a family drama, which revolves around the story of a couple and their kid. Arjun Sarja and Lakshmi Rai are playing husband and wife in the movie, which is going to be their biggest project in recent times.
After the launch of Rani Ranamma, Arjun Sarja and Lakshmi Rai took part in the shooting and canned a couple of scenes for the movie at Annapoorna Studios.
Lakshmi Rai is known for her glamourous roles in her previous movies, but her role in Rani Ranamma is going to be completely different and never-played-before role in her career. She has a very decent role in the film. It should be seen whether she will be able to do justice to it.
Arjun Sarja, who was last seen in Rama Rama Krishna Krishna, is now making his comeback to Telugu with Rani Ranamma. His role in the film is also going to be a unique character that he has played ever in his career.
Initially, Sonu Sood was roped in to play a crucial role in Rani Ranamma, but he was dropped from the project after he underwent a surgery following multiple fractures in his leg while playing a CCL match in Dubai. It remains to be seen if the film's cast changes.
