Ma Neta Rajanna Is A Biopic On YS Rajasekhar Reddy: Srinivas
Director Srinivas Reddy, who has done movies like A Aa E Ee, Bommana Brothers Chandana Sisters, Kuberulu and Damarukam, is all set to make his comeback after a year. His next directorial venture Ma Neta Rajanna is a biopic that revolves around the life of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy (YSR). He says that filmmakers need cinematic liberty to make biopics.
Talking to IANS, Srinivas told, "Biopics are not easy to make. They are very challenging and one needs some degree of cinematic liberty since they are based on someone else's life. Audiences are always ready to point out mistakes in these films, and therefore, you need the freedom to compromise on few things."
The director added, "Making a film based on the life of a political figure means that you're dealing with the emotions of lakhs of his or her followers. One scene is more than enough to earn their wrath. Just because you're making a biopic doesn't mean you can include every minor detail."
In Ma Neta Rajanna, Srinivas Reddy will portray some politicians, who belong to the opposition party, in negative shade without belittling them. The director said, "This wouldn't be possible without having the freedom to even attempt it at the first place." Continue to read more about the film in the slideshow.
Vijayachander Playing YSR in MNR
Veteran actor Vijayachander, who has been spending a lot of time in active politics, is an ardent follower of the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The actor will play the role of YSR in Ma Neta Rajanna.

Vijayachander is fondly known as the Cine Sai Baba and Cine Karunamayudu for his roles as the Godly figures in movies. In the past, he has played Shirdi Sai Baba, Jesus Christ, Kabirdas and even Telugu stalwarts such as NT Rama Rao and T Prakasam Pantulu.
Srinivas Calls Vijayachander A Versatile Actor
Talking about Vijayachander, Srinivas Reddy said, "He is a versatile actor. All of us know he is one the popular actors in the Telugu industry to have been part of several biopics over the years. I didn't have any other actor in mind."
Srinivas Making MNR Out Of Passion
Srinivas says that he is making the film out of passion. He added, "It will only be on him from his initial days as a doctor to his political career and his death. I have been one of his followers and this film is my way of paying tribute to him. I'm not trying to seek any political mileage out of this."
Ma Neta Rajanna Star Cast
The film Ma Neta Rajanna also features Raghunatha Reddy, Mani Chandana and yesteryear heroine Geethanjali in important roles. The movie is slated to release in November, 2013.
Ma Neta Rajanna - Second Film On YSR
Director PC Reddy is also doing a Telugu film on the life of YSR. Titled Jagannayakudu, the movie is produced by Anantha Padmanbha Reddy. Now, Ma Neta Rajanna is the second film on YSR after Jagannayakudu.
