Telugu
actors
Mohan
Babu
and
Brahmanandam
have
been
awarded
Padma
Shri
in
2007
and
2009,
respectively,
for
their
wonderful
contribution
to
the
Telugu
film
industry,
but
they
are
facing
threat
of
losing
this
title
after
they
broke
the
rules
of
this
award.
On
Monday,
the
Andhra
Pradesh
high
court
has
issued
orders
to
these
Tollywood
stars
to
return
this
award.
According
to
the
rules,
the
Padma
Shri
award
does
not
amount
to
a
title
and
it
cannot
be
used
as
a
suffix
or
prefix
to
the
award
winner's
name
on
letterheads,
invitation
cards,
posters
and
books
among
others.
But
actor-turned-producer
Mohan
Babu
and
comedian
Brahmanandam
had
carried
the
title
of
Padma
Shri
as
prefix
in
the
credits
of
Manchu
Vishnu's
2012
controversial
film
Denikaina
Ready.
Following
their
misuse
of
the
title,
BJP
leader
N
Indrasena
Reddy
had
filed
a
petition
against
Mohan
Babu
and
Brahmanandam
at
the
Andhr
Pradesh
High
Court.
The
HC
bench
comprising
Chief
Justice
Kalyan
Jyothy
Sengupta
and
Justice
P
Sanjay
Kumar
heard
this
case
on
Monday
and
took
a
serious
note
of
the
actors'
misuse
of
the
title.
Finally,
the
Court
observed
that
the
actors
should
have
surrendered
the
awards
gracefully.
