Photos: Small budget Telugu filmmakers in trouble

In recent years, small budget filmmakers have been struggling to get enough number of theatres during any big festival and the holiday seasons as most of the screens will be booked by biggies. They are forced to release their movies during off season. Many a times due to unavailability of dates, they head for bulk release with minimum number of theatres. This make them face severe setback at the Box Office.

With the summer holidays are set to begin from April, small budget filmmakers are in trouble again. Big budget movies like Shadow, Baadshah, Greeku Veerudu and Iddarammayilato are all set to hit the screens across the globe in April and May. The theatrical rights of these films have been acquired by some big distributors, who have already booked a large number of screens for them.

These grand releases are giving a sleepless night to a few small producers, who are vying at the Box Office this weekend. If we are to go by the reports, seven Telugu movies like Back Bench Student, Rye Rye, Operation Duryodhan 2, Jagan, 3G Love, Alajadi and Dasami are releasing in theatres this Friday. Insiders from Tollywood claim that not even one of these movies has got more than 200 screens.

Dasari Narayana Rao has been fighting for the small producers for the past few years and he even supported Tammareddy Bhardwaj and his team in the APFCC elections for the year 2012-13. Addressing the media, new president Tammareddy had promised that he would end the problem of theatres, which has been created by big producers in the state. But he seems to have failed to help out the small producers.

Back Bench Student

Back Bench Student is a romance drama, which is directed by Madhura Sreedhar and produced by MVK Reddy. Sunil Kashyap has scored music for the film, which features Mahat Raghavendra, Piaa Bajpai and Archana Kaviare in the lead roles.

Jagan

Jagan, which was earlier titled Jagan Nirdoshi, is said to be a political thriller, which is directed by Venkanna Babu and produced by Sakhamuri Mallikarjuna Rao. The movie stars Sanjana, Shruti Reddy and Sarayu in the lead roles.

3G Love

Telugu Movie 3G Love is a romantic thriller, which is directed by Venkata Pati and produced by Pratap Kolagatla.

Operation Duryodhana 2

Operation Duryodhana 2 is an action drama featuring Jagapathi Babu, Kota Srinivas Rao and Babu Mohan in the lead roles. The film is directed by Nandam Harishchandra Rao and produced AB Srinivas.

Rye Rye

Rye Rye is a romantic entertainer, which is directed by Sudheer Raj. Sri Vasanth has composed music for the film, which stars Srinivas and Aksha Pardasany in the lead roles.

Alajadi

Alajadi is a youthful romantic entertainer starring Anvith, Vinny, Balram and Ritika in the leads. The movie is directed by Sri Mallikarjun and produced by Lakshmi Sowjanya Gopal.

Dasami

Dasami is an action entertainer, which is directed by Enuganti Chinna and produced by Mahipal. BR Vamsi has composed music for the movie, which stars Sivaji, Ajay and Deepti in the lead roles.
