Hyderabad:
After
making
some
of
the
best
Telugu
fantasy
films
such
as
Arundhati,
Telugu
filmmaker
Kodi
Ramakrishna
is
set
to
expose
the
ill
effects
of
society
on
people's
lives
in
his
upcoming
action-thriller
Rani
Ranamma.
But
the
director
clarifies
that
the
movie
is
not
about
the
situation
in
Sri
Lanka.
He
believes
there
is
so
much
happening
around
us
and
that
needs
to
be
retold
on
the
big
screen.
Kodi
Ramakrishna
told
IANS,
"We
have
so
many
incidents
happening
around
us
that
could
be
very
well
made
into
a
film,
but
we
always
prefer
making
love
stories.
The
story
of
the
film
will
make
one
feel
like
it's
their
own
story
because
anybody
can
easily
relate
to
it." He
added,
"I
will
show
how
society
can
turn
a
common
man
into
a
beast
through
the
film.
Our
lives
depend
on
the
society
we
live
in."
The
story
of
Rani
Ranamma
is
set
against
the
backdrop
of
Sri
Lanka.
When
asked
about
whether
the
story
has
anything
to
do
with
the
ongoing
controversy
in
Sri
Lanka,
he
said,
"It's
not
about
what
is
happening
in
Sri
Lanka.
It's
a
fictional
story
set
there
for
a
particular
reasons
that
will
be
revealed
in
the
film.
When
people
would
watch
the
film,
I'm
sure
they
would
understand
why
I
chose
to
use
Sri
Lanka
as
a
backdrop."
Rani
Ranamma
is
produced
by
R
Ramachandra
Raju
under
the
banner
of
Shailaja
Productions
and
SA
Rajkumar
will
compose
music
for
the
movie.
Arjun
Sarja
and
Lakshmi
Rai
play
the
lead
in
the
film,
while
the
rest
of
the
cast
will
be
finalised
soon.
It
is
likely
to
release
as
a
Dussehra
treat.
