SIIMA Awards 2013 Photos: Telugu Stars Walk Red Carpet
The second Edition of the SIIMA (South Indian International Movie Awards) 2013 has kick-started in a grand style in Sharjah, Dubai on Thursday (September 12, 2013). The first day of the awards show witnessed a host of stars from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam walking the red carpet.
Telugu actresses like Kajal Aggarwal, Lakshmi Manchu, Shruti Hassan, Trisha, Priyamani, Shriya Saran, Asin, Charmy Kaur, Nidhi Subbaiah, Pooja Gandhi, Sharmila Mandre, Ragini Dwivedi and few others made it to the red carpet on the opening day of the SIIMA Awards 2013. But many leading actresses like Anushka Shetty, Nayantara, Samantha, Ileana D'Cruz, Taapsee Pannu and a few others were missing on the occasion.
What Surprised many was a very less number of actors were in attendance on the first day of the SIIMA Awards 2013 and most of them were young and less popular stars. Along with show host Rana Daggubati, Telugu actors like Navadeep, Allu Sirish and a few others were seen walking the red carpet. But hardly any Telugu superstar was present on the event.
The experts from Tollywood feel that the announcement of bifurcation of the state has brought the life to standstill. Due to the agitations in both Seemandhra and Telangana, the film industry has almost shut down with no big release for more than a month. All these developments have taken a toll on the business. So most of the leading actors and filmmakers decided to skip the SIIMA Awards 2013. A few opine that since the main awards will be distributed on the second day, many actors are expected to be present on Friday.
