Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara is a brave attempt by JK Bharavi and great performances by Kaushik, Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu and Srihari are the main attraction in the movie. Nag Srivathsav's music and background score, beautiful picturisation, Bharavi's screenplay and meaningful dialogues, brilliant art direction and costumes are other highlights of the film. But visual effects and CGI work spoils its beauty.
The movie is based on the life of iconic 9th century saint Adi Sankaracharya, who consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta. This saint from Kerala is considered as the manifestation of sanatana dharma - Hinduism. He is regarded as the reincarnation of Lord Siva. JK Bharavi has penned screenplay and dialogues for the film.
It opens with Megastar Chiranjeevi's voice-over. Narrating the greatness of Adi Sankaracharya, Chiru's voice sets a perfect tone for the film. Then it heads to narrate the story of the saint. The crux of the story is the clash between Chandaludu and Lord Siva. Continue to read the story and Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara movie review in the slideshow.
Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara Story
Shankara decides to become a saint at very tender age. Agni Devudu (Tanikella Bharani), Rudraksha Rushi (Mohan Babu) and Chandaludu (Nagarjuna) help him realise his dream. While he is on his way to Kasi, Kapala Marthanda Raju (Suman) tries to seize the Sarvaghna Peetam. How Adhishankara stops the Peetham from falling into the wrong hands will form the rest of the story.
Kaushik, who is debuting as actor, has delivered brilliant performances. He has played the title role of Adhishankara in the film for which he has tried to do 100% justice. He will definitely impress the viewers.
Nagarjuna's Perfomance In SJAS
Nagarjuna is sure to rock the film goers as Chadaludu in Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara. His brilliant performance is big asset for the film.
Mohan Babu In SJAS
Dr Mohan Babu has played a brief role - Rudraksha Rushi and his great performance is sure to rock the viewers. His presence in film is also a big asset for the movie.
Supporting Actors In SJAS
Other actors like Saikumar, Srihari, Suman, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Mynampati Sreerama Chandra, Meena, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Kamna Jethmalani, Rohini, Roja, Posani Krishna Murali and Tanikella Bharani have also delivered brilliant performances.
Technical Stuff In SJAS
In the technical front, Nag Srivathsav's music and background score are the main highlights. Few of his songs are good to listen. Cinematography, Visual effects and CGI work are also good, they fall flat in holding the attention of the viewers. Editing should have been much better. JK Bharavi's screenplay and dialogues are brilliant, but he has failed in direction department.
Overall, Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara is a really good attempt in Tollywood, which produces maximum number of mass masala movies. It is a good family entertainer for this festive season.
