July 31 is the 5th anniversary of Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Aggarwal's Blockbuster Telugu movie Magadheera, which was released in theatres on July 31 in 2009. Ace director SS Rajamouli, the creator of this master piece, remembers his fond memories and recalls the responses of Megastar Chiranjeevi, Srihari, Pawan Kalyan and Superstar Rajinikanth.
SS Rajamouli, who is busy shooting for his upcoming magnum opus Baahubali, was surprised to see the flood of viewers' wishes, when he logged into his Twitter page this morning (July 31). The elated director tweeted, "Just saw my TL filled with 5yrs of MD tweets. All of us are blessed to be a part of that film which is so fondly remembered by so many.. TQ"
Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli he also recalled the appreciation that he received from the industry stalwarts. He wrote, "Still remember the words of appreciation by Chiranjeevi garu and tears of emotion in Srihari garu's eyes when I first narrated the script How can I forget PSPK's call after release "This film might hav taken 2 years to make but I as a film maker I know it must have been in the making in your mind prior to that".. I don't exactly remember what Rajnisir said except4his signature ha ha ha.I was in a happy delirium. (sic)"
Magadheera is a historical romance drama film that is all about a bike stuntman, who recalls his previous life as a warrior and pursues his love's reincarnation. Besides direction, SS Rajamouli has also written the screenplay for the movie Magadheera, while his father KV Vijayendra Prasad penned the story. M Ratnam has written dialogues for the film.

Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Aggarwal have played the lead roles, while Sunil, Srihari, Dev Gill, Sarath Babu, Rao Ramesh, Sameer, Saloni Aswani, Brahmanandam and Hema essayed other important roles in the film Magadheera.
Chiranjeevi's Guest Appearance
Megastar Chiranjeevi has made a guest appearance in a scene after remix version of his chartbuster song 'Bangaru Kodipetta' in Magadheera. This song featured Mumaith Khan as Reshma, Dirt Bike race organiser.
Kim Sharma's Item Song
Kim Sharma has made special appearance as a dancer named Hamsa in the item song 'Jorsey' in the movie Magadheera.
Nearly 90% of Magadheera was shot at Gujarat, Rajasthan, Rann of Kutch and Badami in Karnataka. Some scenes were filmed at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The first song of the film, 'Bangaru Kodipetta', was filmed at the Chennai Port. The song 'Nakosam Nuvvu' was shot in Switzerland. 'Panchadara Bomma Bomma' was shot at Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad.

Rajamouli's wife Rama was the costume designer for the movie Magadheera, which has MM Keeravani's music, KK Senthil Kumar's cinematography and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao's editing.
Magadheera Grand Release
Allu Aravind's Geetha Arts released Magadheera with 625 digital UFO prints in 1250 theaters across the globe on July 31, 2009. This happens to be the biggest ever release for a Telugu film. The movie graced more than 1000 screens in Andhra Pradesh. The film opened up with 25 prints overseas.

Magadheera is a historical Blockbuster in Telugu Cinema with its theatrical distributor share of Rs 73.1 crore at the worldwide Box Office. It was all time highest grosser Telugu movie until the release of Pawan Kalyan's Attarintiki Daredi, which has pushed it down to the second place.

Maaveeran, the Tamil version of Magadheera, was released in 350 theaters across Tamil Nadu state and it has collected Rs 8 crore (US$1.3 million) at the TN Box Office in its life time.
Magadheera Malayalam Version
Dheera - the Warrior, the Malayalam dubbed version of Magadheera, was released in record number of theatres in Kerala on May 27, 2011. This version has collected Rs 3 crore (US$500,000) at the Kerala Box Office in its life time.

Magadheera has won two National Film Awards, nine Nandi Awards, six Filmfare Awards in various categories.
Magadheera DVD Release
The DVDs of Magadheera were released by Sri Balaji Videos in NTSC video format and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround audio format on 5 March 2010. The film was released on a high definition blu-ray disc on 13 April. The movie holds the top position in sales of the 720p Blu Ray edition with 5.1 Dolby digital sound format.
Magadheera has got record prices for its satellite rights, music and home media rights.
Magadheera - A Trend-Setter Movie
