Santosh Srinivas' latest directorial venture Rabhasa starring Junior NTR, Samantha and Pranitha in the leads, opened to an overwhelming response on Ganesh Chathurthi day, but has failed to maintain the same on the following days. The business of the film on the weekdays has been worse than the young tiger's previous outing Ramayya Vasthavayya, which has hit the theatres on October 10, 2013.
The promos of Rabhasa had garnered lot of curiosity for the film before its release. This helped the movie to register a huge amount of advance ticket bookings for the first day. Released in 1200 screens across the globe on August 29, the movie opened to an earth-shattering response on Friday. The film raked in Rs 8.85 crores nett at the AP and Telangana Box Office on the first day. It became the biggest opener of the year.
Rabhasa garnered mixed reviews from critics and viewers. The word of mouth was expected to take its business upwards on Saturday and Sunday, but its business dropped considerably over the weekend. The movie witnessed further dip in its collection on Monday and it continued to show fall on the following days. Its collection on the weekdays is poorer than that of Ramayya Vasthavayya.
Produced Bellamkonda Suresh and Ganesh Babu, Rabhasa has collected Rs 21.60 crores nett at the AP and Telangana Box Office Box Office in the first week. Its breakup is Rs 8.85 cr on Fri, Rs 4 cr on Sat, Rs 3.50 cr on Sun, 1.75 cr on Mon, Rs 1.35 cr on Tue, Rs 1.15 on Wed and Rs 1 cr on Thu. The film has raked another Rs 7 crores from its screening in the USA, Karnataka, Tamil Nandu, Mahaharashtra and other parts of North India.
Rabhasa has collected approximately Rs 28.60 crores at the worldwide Box Office in the first week. Made with a whopping budget of Rs 40 crore, the movie has recovered more than 70% of its production cost from its theatrical run for seven days. With no big releases this Friday, the film is expected to do well at the Box Office in its second week too.
