Cop Movies Of Puri Jagannadh

Puri Jagannadh seems to have deeply influenced by the cop stories in his life. Almost all the films Puri had ever made reprised the cop roles and he makes sure that his stories are laced with a cop track, be it the hero or the antagonist. Jr. NTR's Temper is no exception.

One can easily spot Puri's special love for police in his films and he had admitted it in many of his interviews. Puri Jagan was largely criticized to have only two types of stories in his films. One is of gangsters and other is of cops. Either ways, the portrayal of a strong police officer is a must in his films.

Puri had yet again opted to conceive a cop story with Temper, though the story was written by Vakkantham Vamsi. Puri Jagan appeared to have taken enough care to not have any shades of his old cops in Daya, played by NTR. He will be seen playing an arrogant cop in the film.

Puri's earlier works like Bachi, Idiot, Shivamani, Pokiri, Ek Niranjan, Golimaar also had the cop stories as their main plot line. But they had worked big time at the box office and films like Pokiri turned out to be the highest money spinners of the Telugu film Industry.

Puri has an ability to find a new angle to a cop story everytime. The story he chose might also be repetitive but not his taking. His dialogues and the hero characterizations can make a beaten to death story also look fresh. Bachi

Jagapathi Babu essayed the role of a police officer in the special branch, Bhaskar Chenmai alias Bachi in the film Bachi. This was the first cop story of Puri Jagannadh.

Idiot

Ravi Teja played the role Chanti, who is a son of a head constable. He aspires to become a police officer and in the process he falls for Suchitra, daughter of the city police commissioner.

Sivamani

Nagarjuna was seen as Sivamani, an aggressive cop of Vizag city. The film turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of that year and was touted to be the trendsetter for all the cop commercial entertainers that followed.

Pokiri

Mahesh Babu essayed the role Krishna Manohar IPS and it gets revealed only in the last reel of the film. The film went on to become the all time industry hit and was later re-made it 3 different languages.

Ek Niranjan

Prabhas played the character Chotu, who is a police informer. This angle of Puri's Cop story did not click well with the audiences.

Golimaar

Gopichand was seen as an encounter specialist, Gangaram and the story has been inspired by the real life experiences of encounter specialist Daya Nayak.

Temper

Puri Jagannadh said that the film is basically the story of a bad police officer played by Jr.NTR and it is an action-oriented film.
