Oscars 2016: Indian Awards Receive Criticism From Netizens

|

Amidst all the jazz of the Oscars 2016 and Leonardo DiCaprio finally winning an Oscar, netizens are also widely discussing, 'why Indian awards are not equivalent to Oscars, though many claim to be so'.

No doubt, we have many popular awards shows like Filmfare, IIFA, SIIMA, CineMAA, etc, down here in south. But, their credibility often draws flak, since their choice of winners lacks transparency.

On that note, a few comments on the social networking sites are going viral, kick-starting a debate, if Indian awards are any credible. While a few netizens pointed it out that our awards largely focus on creating content for satellite, their opinions were hugely concurred.

"Why Telugu award shows aren't live?. Because our guys are more interested in selling TV & Commercial Rights adding Performances & Brands.", read an observation.

Another troll account reasoned the failure of Indian awards with a tinge of humor. "Bollywood Awards are never live telecast because they have to edit and show Rekha's reaction when Amitabh comes on stage."

Though the debate was in forefront, many times before, it never gets old. Especially, when the award season is around. However, it is not subjected to one award show in particular, but all that we have in India, right now. Hope somebody notices the growing suspicion and come up with something great.

Nevertheless, the academy awards are also bashed by some, and it is no exception when it comes to drawing criticism.
