Puri Jagannadh To Ask Actors & Directors Help To Fight Against The Flaws In Trade

After filing a case on distributors, for allegedly assaulting him to repay the losses incurred with Loafer, Puri Jagannadh has let out his version for the first time. It is known that, the distributors called for a press meet yesterday, and cleared the air that they neither attacked Puri nor asked him for a repayment.

However, Puri's version is in contrast and he firmly stated that they have been indirectly blackmailing him with their double traits. Puri Jagannadh himself has written a piece in one of the leading newspapers today, opening up further on the issue.

He stated that it is not his problem, but the industry's and hence would take the support of actors and directors too, if the distributors still don't accept their mistakes.

"Troubling creative people for money does not bode well for the film industry; it's not leading to a healthy atmosphere for Tollywood. How is it my responsibility if someone lost money? I didn't ask anyone to buy the film! Heroes and directors are no way connected to losses."

"If they continue to threaten me and blame me for their alleged losses, I have no other option but to take support from actors and directors to fight for this issue. This is not just Puri Jagannadh's problem, this is the problem of every creative person who works in Telugu cinema. There are so many livelihoods at stake. It's high time we took action", stated Puri.

The director also pointed out the flaws that we have today in trade here in Tollywood. "Unlike in Bollywood, where all collections are accounted for, in Andhra and Telangana, except in multiplexes, there is no computerized billing systems. so, there is no proper accounting in place."

"The distributors fudge figures to suit their whims and filmmakers are helpless. The government should come down heavily on this because finally, it is the government which is losing out on revenue."
