When Fans Trolled Their Own Icons Out Of Love...

By Mayur Javali

Fanatical behaviour, hero worship, fan fights for silver screen icons are a part and parcel of South Indian cinema. Fans of actors adorn theatres with hero cut-outs, flowers and banners while they welcome their hero movies with 'milk abhishekam', breaking of coconuts and bursting crackers.

The celebration makes the theatre appear as one holy place and the chants, rants and whistles during the hero introduction surely causes some severe damage to one's eardrums.

While fans carry out celebrations and social services for the love on their respective heroes, they as well cross the borders by hurling abuses on fellow actors which leads to social network fight between fans of different actors.

Among the aforementioned common scenarios, Tollywood witnessed fans of Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu displaying their affection towards their favourite actors in the form of shooting short films on their respective heroes as the star reference being the source part of both movies.

However, it was the anti-fans of Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan who enjoyed the said short films in the form of trolls, than the respective hero fans. Here is why both of them were trolled in the social media section.

DHFM Short Film (DHFM: Die Hard Fan of Mahesh)

Fans of Mahesh Babu came up with a 7 minute short film which emphasised on social responsibility to be shouldered by boys when girls are spotted at odd hours. It stresses upon a key message of "Being responsible towards the society like their hero". The message or the theme of the movie looks fairly laudable but the execution of the movie is what has turned the product into a troll material. Poor performances from the casting, with superficial dialogues and very weak building of scenes led to the movie's debacle.

Power of Pawan Kalyan

It all starts with a youngster expressing horrific reactions while watching a horror movie. His roommate persuades him to step out of the room to catch up with a late night show followed by dinner. Upon returning from the movie, the former hints the later about a ghost existence on their way.

While the latter runs away, the former displays his locket chain to the ghost which disappears in no time.It then would be unveiled on screen to the audience that the locket carries the picture of the youngster's God i.e., Power Star Pawan Kalyan.

The movie is weak in all the sections and doesn't stick loyal to any of the film-making techniques. The movie failed to convince even the hard-core fans of Power Star to share or endorse the movie within their circles. However, the two characters of the movie were successful in showing what Pawan Kalyan meant to them in their life.
