She enjoys a strong fan following thanks to her good looks, charming personality and bindass nature. Even though she has not been too active in the recent years the fact remains that Genelia has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and starred in several memorable films. Also featuring Siddharth and music director SS Thaman in the lead, it was one of the most expensive films of its time and touched upon the importance of getting good education.

A romantic-comedy, Bommarillu is arguably the finest film of Genelia's career,. In the Bhaskar directorial, she played the role of a cheerful and lively engineering student and did full justice to her role. Upon release, Bommarillu did well at the box office and helped Genelia bag the Filmfare award for ‘Best Actress'. It was later remade in Tamil as Santosh Sumbramaniam with Genelia reprising her role from the original version.

Shot against a mammoth budget of Rs 20 Crore, Urumi was a historical drama a saw Genelia act opposite Mollywood sensation Prithviraj. St in the early 16th century, the film received rave reviews upon release and helped Genelia add a new dimension to her career. Unfortunately, it failed to break even at the Kerala box office mainly because of the high budget.

Dhee

A Srinu Vaitla diectorial, Dhee was an action-packed romantic drama which hit the theatres in 2007 and did reasonably well at the box office. In it, Genelia acted alongside Vishnu Manchu and delivered a good performance. The film also featured the late Srihari in a key role.
