During the recently-held teaser launch of Kavacham, Kajal found herself in an uncomfortable situation when cinematographer Chota Naidu kissed her in public and that too without her consent. This caught her by surprise and left those in attendance in a state of shock.

Justifying his actions, the cinematographer tried to put the blame on the music composer SS Thaman. Chota Naidu claimed that Thaman had challenged him to kiss Kajal in public. As expected, the explanation was extremely cheap and proved that there was nothing innocent or spontaneous about his actions. His decision to kiss Kajal without her permission was a planned one and this makes it even murkier.
