Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is currently gearing up for the release of the highly controversial Lakshmi's NTR, which is touted to be the 'real biopic' of the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. The film, featuring a theatre actor in the lead, revolves around the relationship between NTR and his second wife Lakshmi Parvathi with special focus on the Viceroy House incident. RGV had originally planned to release the film alongside the Balakrishna starrer NTR Mahanayakudu.
However, he changed his mind at the last minute and decided to release just the theatrical trailer alongside NTR Mahanayakudu on February 22, 2019. The buzz is that RGV is not too confident about his film and feels that NTR Mahanayakudu would have the edge. As a result, he shelved his original plan.
"Somehow, it appears RGV is not so confident on his film and he might have worried about if Mahanayakudu would take an edge in the competition. As such, RGV's decision not to release Lakshmi's NTR along with Mahanayakudu could be considered a wise move," added a source. -(sic)
If this is indeed the case, NBK has scored a major win over RGV.
NTR Mahanayakudu is a sequel to the Sankranti disaster NTR Kathanayakudu and has political undertones. Unlike Lakshmi's NTR, it does not deal with the Lakshmi Parvathi episode.
