Last year, Mahesh Babu became the talk of the town for all the right reasons when Bharat Ane Nenu opened to a thunderous response at the box office and received rave reviews from the target audience. The film, helmed by top filmmaker Koratala Siva, featured 'Prince' in the role of a Chief Minister and did full justice to his mass hero image. With 2018 in the past. Mahesh Babu is in the limelight due to Maharshi which hit screens on May 9, 2019. Now, its first week report is out.

A Solid Week 1
As per initial estimates. Maharshi had an excellent first week and collected a share of Rs 58.82 crore at the AP/TS box office. Most of the shows witnessed good occupancy even during the weekdays which resulted in these impressive collections.
Mahesh Babu Beats Prabhas
Maharshi exceeded expectations at RTC X Roads and raked in nearly Rs 92 lakh in Week 1. In fact, the response was so good that the film outperformed Baahubali which had collected nearly Rs 91 lakh in the opening week.
Bad News From Krishna District
The film has, however, not been able to work its magic in the Krishna district. Maharshi raked in a share of Rs 4.28 crore in the opening week and failed to beat Bharat Ane Nenu which had collected Rs 4.61 crore in its opening week.
The WOM Is Mixed
Most moviegoers seem to be of the opinion that Maharshi is a pretty good movie that features a rocking performance from ‘Super Star' Mahesh Babu but fails to make a strong impact due to its dull screenplay and ordinary plot. All in all, the WOM is mixed which might prove to be a cause of worry for the makers in Week 2.
As there are no major Tollywood releases this week, Maharshi is likely to remain the top choice of the target audience. All in all, Mahesh Babu is set to deliver yet another hit and prove this mettle as a performer
