There's no denying that 2018 was a terrible year for Tollywood actor Nagarjuna. The veteran star suffered a big setback when Officer bombed at the box office and failed to impress critics. In fact, the response was so underwhelmed that Akkineni fans virtually disowned the Ram Gopal Varma-directed movie and this left almost everyone in a state of disbelief. Nagarjuna's next release Devadas too failed to live up to expectations and this added to his worries.
With the setbacks in the past, Nagarjuna is currently awaiting the release of Manmadhudu 2, slated to release this August. The film, featuring the Criminal star in the role of a 'playboy', has created a good deal of excitement amongst fans, which might help it make an impact at the box office. A special teaser of Manmadhudu 2, featuring Rakul in a 'smoking hot' avatar, was released a few days ago and it took social media by storm.
Shortly thereafter, several trolls attacked director Rahul Ravindran for promoting smoking in his movie. Some of them even attacked his wife and singer Chinmayi, a supporter of women's empowerment, and claimed that she was following 'double standards'.
Now, it seems that the controversy has forced the Manmadhudu 2 team to take a big decision. According to reports, Nags has made it clear that the film should not have any double meaning dialogues or bold content. Rahul is reportedly making the changes on a priority basis.
It will be worth watching if this big move affects the fate of Manmadhudu 2.
So, do you think that Manmadhudu 2 will work without its 'bold content'? Tell us in the space below.
