Adipurush, the epic tale of the Ramayana depicted by Om Raut with pan-India star Prabhas as the protagonist, was released worldwide on June 16. The movie, which was made on a budget of Rs 600 Crore is one of the costliest films made in India.

Upon its theatrical release, the movie met with severe backlash from fans, young-generation movie buffs, several religious organizations, etc. The over-enthusiastic creative liberties coupled with several technical and story, script-based flaws made Adipurush a bad film made on Ramayana, to date.

Adipurush Story

The epic is the story of Rama aka Raghav, who embarks on a defining journey from Ayodhya to Lanka, in a bid to rescue his kidnapped wife Sita aka Janaki. He has to defeat the mighty king of Lanka, Ravanasura aka Lankesh with the help of his disciple Hanuma aka Bajrang. The movie is based on the mythological depiction of the same by Valmiki in the Ramayana, a Hindu mythological scripture.

Adipurush Cast

Along with Prabhas, the movie stars Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Saif Ali Khan in the powerful role of Lankesh, Sunny Singh as Lakshmana, Devdatta Nage as Bajrang, Vatsal Sheth as Meghanada, Sonal Chauhan, and Trupti Toradmal in key roles.

Initially, more than 1.5 lakh tickets were distributed to the people in Hindi-speaking regions. Also, the producers and distributors of the film have decided to extend about 10,000 free tickets to the less fortunate and government school children. However, as the bookings were showing great hope, the collection came down for the epic film that became meat for meme-makers.
