Prabhas bagged another epic disaster in his career with the Hindi and Telugu bilingual mythological drama Adipurush. Directed by Om Raut, the movie was made on a huge Rs 500 Crore.

Based on the Hindu mythological epic Ramayana written by Valmiki, the movie is an attempt made by filmmakers to depict the age-old tale with modern technological advancements. However, for more than several reasons, the movie got backfired.

Despite great openings and record-breaking advance bookings all over India, Adipurush didn't sustain the hype, and the collections drastically dropped. Several attempts, like decreasing the ticket price etc., but nothing could improve the collections.

Adipurush Story

The epic is the story of Rama, aka Raghav, who embarks on a defining journey from Ayodhya to Lanka in a bid to rescue his kidnapped wife, Sita, aka Janaki. He has to defeat the mighty king of Lanka, Ravanasura, aka Lankesh, with the help of his disciple Hanuma aka Bajrang. The movie is based on the mythological depiction of the same by Valmiki in the Ramayana, a Hindu mythological scripture.

Adipurush Cast

Along with Prabhas, the movie stars Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Saif Ali Khan in the powerful role of Lankesh, Sunny Singh as Lakshmana, Devdatta Nage as Bajrang, Vatsal Sheth as Meghanada, Sonal Chauhan and Trupti Toradmal in key roles.

The movie was made under the T-Series Films and Retrophiles banners by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair. Karthik Palani cranked the camera for the film. Apurva Motiwale Sahai and Ashish Mhatre worked as the film's editors. The movie's background score is composed by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara.
