Unfortunately, Prabhas' starrer Adipurush, one of the costliest films made in the country on the epic Ramayana written by Valmiki, hit the screens to an uproar and boycott trend, on June 16.

Contrary to what was perceived, the movie, instead of making waves at the box office in continuation to the pre-release buzz and the advance bookings frenzy, has become a laughing stock. The film's director Om Raut, who also co-produced the movie is being trolled for more than a couple of reasons as film buffs and fans of the actor call the movie a meme stuff.

According to popular Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh, Prabhas' Adipurush is 'Disappointing.' He put out a tweet saying, "Adipurush is an EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT... Just doesn't meet the mammoth expectations... Director #OmRaut had a dream cast and a massive budget on hand, but creates a HUGE MESS, (sic)."

Here at Filmibeat, we discuss five of the major reasons which led to Adipurush's heavy trolling, upon its theatrical release.

Inappropriate Cast
There are two issues concerning the casting of Adipurush. One-none of the actors who were cast in the movie felt like he or she is born for the role. Kriti Sanon in the role of Janaki is no exception. Two- except for Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon audience know none of the other actors. In addition, Prabhas who ran the show has nothing to do in terms of emoting and puts a straight face throughout. Kriti Sanon and the rest of the actors have limited and restricted screen space.

Poor VFX

Visuals at places is fine but most of the movie is not visually appealing due to poor quality VFX. Many felt the film is too dark. Apparently, the makers did it to hide the raw VFX output.

Lacks Emotional Connect

For the start, the chemistry between Raghava and Janaki wasn't established and the movie hit straight into the story. A few scenes such as Bhajrang meeting Raghava for the first time came out well. In many other scenes, viewers couldn't connect to the characters even though they are well-established characters otherwise. Bhajrang is mostly confused about his abilities while Lakshman is depicted as a person who acts on impulse.

Far From Devotional Aspect

The epic saga of Ramayanam is all about spiritual power and devotional discourse. But Adipurush which is based on Ramayanam looked like a half-baked modern version of the mythological saga. It is also far from the original and other telefilms and movies made earlier.

Climax
The actual climax of the film where Raghava and his entire army led by Bhajrang confronts Lankesh has been stretched into the second half of the film.
Most of the second half and climax are about the hi-tech Lanka and its soldiers. The part where Lankesh confronts Raghava the second time is set as the climax. Bringing Janaki to the battle field is also another aspect which is formed from the imagination of the filmmakers.
