Actress Aishwarya Rajesh, who is half-Telugu, has become more popular and successful in Tamil than Telugu. Her recent film Farhana, which was released on May 12 is receiving a positive response at the theatres.

Aishwarya's performance in the movie as a Muslim woman coming out into a new world of opportunities, excitement, financial independence, and enticement around, has been receiving great applause. The family thriller drama is written and directed by Nelson Venkatesan.

Aishwarya's father, the late Rajesh, was a notable actor who played the main lead roles in several films in Telugu during the 1980s. He is the younger brother of popular comedian Srilakshmi. Since Aishwarya was born and brought up in Chennai, before the Telugu industry shifted to Hyderabad, she was predominantly based out in Chennai and does Tamil films.

Speaking about why she isn't taking up Telugu films more, she said, "I like the Telugu industry and there are also offers from here. But I want to do a good Telugu film like a comeback, which will make my family proud because of my roots. I starred in World Famous Lover opposite Vijay Deverakonda but it didn't work out as expected."

The actress has been taking part in several interviews as part of promotional activities for Farhana. In one such interview, the 33-year-old actress was quoted saying to Eenadu, "In case I were given the opportunity, I would have jumped at it. Rashmika played Srivalli well but I feel and believe I would suit the character better."

Farhana's music and background score was composed by Justin Prabhakaran. Gokul Benoy and VJ Sabu Joseph worked as the film's cinematographer and editor, respectively. SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu produced the movie under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner.
