South-Indian superstar, the multi-talented actor-producer-singer-lyricist Dhanush hit the screens as Vaathi, Sir in Telugu, written and directed by Venky Atluri. The movie, which marks the Telugu debut of Dhanush and the Tamil debut of Venky Atluri is made bilingual. The movie was released on February 17 to positive reviews all over Tamil Nadu and the two Telugu-speaking states. The movie is getting praised for its story, content, performances, and technicalities.
Venky Atluri, the director who earlier made successful films like Rang De with Nithiin and Keerthy Suresh, Mr Majnu with Akhil Akkineni and Niddhi Agerwal, debuted as a director with Tholi Prema starring Varun Tej and Raashi Khanna. He also has several movies to his credit as a writer including Sneha Geetham, It's My Love Story, and Kerintha among others.
Before Dhanush came on board and the makers of the film decided to produce Vaathi as a bilingual, Venky Atluri had pitched the same story and script to none other than our Natural star Nani. Nani, who is known to encourage new talent of directors and technicians through his films and production house somehow missed out on this successful film due to reasons unknown. After the news of Nani rejecting Vaathi/Sir came out, fans of the actor are upset about the same. Nani has been trying hard to get a super hit in his career after Shyam Singha Roy also didn't perform as expected. All his recent films like 'Ante Sundaraniki', and 'Tuck Jagadeesh' failed to impress his fans, let alone the regular moviegoers.

Vaathi is a joint production venture of Sithara Entertainment, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios. The movie stars Samyuktha as the female lead and actors like P Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, Hyper Aadi, and Aadukalam Naren among others in pivotal roles. GV Prakash Kumar composed the film's soundtrack and music. J Yuvaraj cranked the camera.
Meanwhile, Nani will be next seen in Dasara, an out-and-out action entertainer under the direction of debutant Srikanth Odela. The movie is going to hit the screens on March 30. He will start working on another film with Mrunal Thakur referred to as Nani 30. In addition, he will star in his production house's sequel to Hit: The Second Case.
