Megastar Chiranjeeiv's latest comedy-action drama with sister sentiment, Bhola Shankar, directed by Meher Ramesh opened to the expecting fans and movie buffs on August 11, worldwide. Upon the film's release, it is receiving mixed to positive responses from fans and critics alike.

Bhola Shankar is the Telugu remake of superhit Tamil film Vedalam. The movie stars Keerthy Suresh in the role of Mahalakshmi, Bhola Shankar's adopted sister. Tamannaah played the female lead opposite Chiranjeevi as his love interest. This is the second collaboration between them after Syera Narasimha Reddy.

Bhola Shankar moves to Kolkata with his adopted sister Mahalakshmi (Keerthy Suresh) for her education. However, unbeknownst to others, Shankar is also on a personal mission and is a former gangster. The movie's pre-release buzz wasn't as high for a megastar's film like before. Probably, the filmmakers kept it low due to reasons best known for them. On the other hand, despite opening on a massive scale, Bhola Shankar couldn't sustain at the box office on the immediate day after its release. Collection dropped by about 68.92 % on the second day.
