Chandra Mohan was a revered hero and much-loved actor who worked in more than 932 films over 55 years. He was the recipient of the 'Best Actor' award for his first film Rangula Ratnam. He died at 82 following a cardiac arrest and other health issues on November 11 in Hyderabad, shocking the entire Tollywood industry.

Chandra Mohan was a relative of renowned filmmaker K Viswanath, who died earlier this year. Born in Pamidimukkala village of Krishna district in 1943, Chandra Mohan entered the film industry in 1966 as a hero. He never looked back ever since and has become one of the most popular and busiest actors in the Telugu film industry.

Following a health complication while working on a film's set, Chandra Mohan refrained from acting and has been battling some issues with his Kidneys for some time.

Chandra Mohan's Glorious Career
Chandra Mohan secured a Nandi Award from the Andhra Pradesh state government. He was a lucky charm for the actresses who waited to act with him and went on to become star heroines. There are many actresses including the legendary late Sridevi, who rose to star status after acting with Chandra Mohan by getting opportunities.

Speaking to a YouTube channel almost a year ago, Chandra Mohan who worked with Sridevi in 'Padaharella Vayasu' her debut film in Telugu recollected, "Sridevi was new to Telugu and I am the lead in Padaharella Vayasu, which was already released in Tamil with Sridevi. However, producers didn't want to cast Sridevi. Meanwhile, Sridevi's mother requested us to allow Sridevi as they are also Telugu. At that time, Sridevi just turned a female lead as a child actress. She and I had worked together when she was a child. She used to sleep on my lap during breaks. But, for Padaharella Vayasu, when producers wanted to cast Jayalalitha, to make use of the original film's footage, they took Sridevi on board. Sridevi by then had an 'Iron leg' image as both her films in Tamil were failures. The makers of our film are skeptical about the same including director Raghavendra Rao. But it worked wonders at the box office and ran for 150 days and above.

Sridevi & Her Mother Propagated Chandra Mohan As A Lucky Charm

Sridevi herself started this propaganda "I worked with Chandra Mohan and I got several opportunities. Sridevi and her mother took this word out. From then on, every new and upcoming actress' would wait to work with me and fortunately, they used to become successful after acting with me. There are about 30 heroines with whom I worked," smiled Chandra Mohan.

Chandra Mohan said, "Vijayshanti's mother is very sentimental about me and she directly talked to producers that she will give dates only after Chandra Mohan confirms his dates. Bhanupriya waited to act with me and made her sister Shantipriya wait. Shobhan Babu even joked saying, even Nageswara Rao and all of us will only see those actresses after you see them first."

Sridevi Introduced Chandra Mohan As Her First Hero To Amitabh Bachchan

Recollecting another incident, he went on to say, "Me and Sridevi met at a place after she became a top actress. Nagarjuna was the actor. Amitabh Bachchan was present on the spot at that time. Sridevi then introduced me to Amitabh and said, "He is my first hero and after acting with him, I got several opportunities. She doesn't have to, but she did that. That is the respect I have among my colleagues and friends in the industry."
