Dasara Trivia: DYK Srikanth Odela Narrated The Story To Nani Way Back In 2018? Here's How The Actor Reacted

After the successful Sankranthi outing for the Tollywood Film Industry, Natural star Nani continued the streak with his recent film Dasara. Helmed by debutant director Srikanth Odela, Nani's mass action emotional drama showcased him in a new avatar, which was never seen and expected out of him before. Nani transformed himself as a hardcore mass villager who boozes off and is a loyal friend. His look, clothing, body language, and slang were on point for the character of Dharani he played in Dasara.

Dasara depicts Dharani as a person who is emotional, lovable, and is also afraid of the dark. He goes to any lenghts to protect his friends and their interests, even if it means to let go off his love. When Suri and Vennela are in love with each other, he settles scores with Vennela's mother to get them married and even wins a cricket match to let Suri get a job.

During one of the promotional interviews, actor Nani shared how he landed Dasara and what made him take such a risk with a debut director. Nani said, "The story of Dasara by Srikanth Odela was first narrated in the year 2018. I immediately liked the idea, as I have never played such a character before. He mentioned that it would be in a proper Telangana style, and it excited me. I gave him four hours to narrate the story but I just sat down with him without monitoring time. As a result, all my pre-scheduled appointments were delayed."

Dasara was announced in 2021. Srikanth only had the experience of assissting director Sukumar Bandreddi for Jr NTR-starrer Nannaku Prematho. He worked as an apprentice in the Hyderabad schedule. The film was launched in February 2022, officially.

Nani also mentioned that Srikanth was given a too small budget to film a couple of scenes from the story before he could go ahead confidently. Srikanth nailed the task, and it took these many years for Dasara to finally hit the screens.

Dasara Cast

Along with Keerthy Suresh, and Dheekshith Shetty, Dasara also stars Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko in his Telugu debut. Actor-director Samuthirakani, veteran Sai Kumar, Jhansi, Shamna Kasim, and others played crucial roles in the film.

Sathyan Sooryan worked as the film's cinematographer and Naveen Nooli had taken care of the editing work. Santhosh Narayanan composed Dasara's entire music and background score. The story is co-written by three others- Jella Srinath, Arjuna Paturi, and Vamsi Krishna P, along with director Srikanth Odela.

Nani's Dasara also marks the first profit venture of Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas banner, headed by Sudhakar Cherukuri, who made the film on a budget of Rs 65 Crore.
